APNVG18 eyepiece diopter protective lens

Overview

The diopter surface on your PNVG-18 eyepiece is the one optical face your eye sits against every time you put the goggle on, and it is the one nobody thinks about until it is scratched. This kit puts a sacrificial layer in front of it: an eyepiece cup that seats over the eyepiece, and a protective lens that sits inside the cup. Dust, grit, a brush against a branch, a gloved thumb, a goggle set down on a hard bench - it all lands on the protective lens instead of the diopter. When the protective lens is marked up you swap it and the view is clean again. The cup is cut to the APNVG-18 eyepiece it covers, so it goes on square. Offered in black and tan.

How to Operate

1) Power the goggle down and set it on a clean, flat surface;

2) Drop the protective lens into the eyepiece cup, handling it by the edge;

3) Push the cup squarely onto the eyepiece until it stops;

4) Run a finger around the joint to confirm it is seated evenly, with no gap on one side;

5) Clean the protective lens the way you clean any optical face; once marks no longer lift when you clean it, fit a new lens;

Why the ARGUS Part

Knowing when to change it: the lens has done its job once marks stop lifting when you clean it. That is a lens change, not an eyepiece fault. It only works in that order, though - fit it before the damage, not after, because once the diopter face itself is marked, a protective lens in front of it will not bring the view back.
