BNVD1431/PVS14 universal OBJECTIVE LENS CAP

Overview

A pinhole objective cap for PVS-14 style monoculars and the BNVD-1431 MK2. It press-fits onto the objective housing and carries a small hole in the centre, and that hole is the whole point: it lets through just enough light for the device to be switched on and function-checked in daylight, without putting a working tube in front of full sun. Without a cap like this a daylight check means either taking the device somewhere dark or risking the most expensive part in it. Fitted, it also does the ordinary job of an objective cap — keeping the front glass covered between uses, in the case and on the bench.

How to Use It for a Daylight Check

1) With the device switched off, press the cap squarely onto the objective housing until it seats;

2) Confirm the cap is fully seated all the way round before switching on — a cap sitting proud on one side lets unfiltered daylight past;

3) Switch the device on and run your function check through the eyepiece;

4) Switch off before removing the cap;

Why the ARGUS Cap

The pinhole is the reason to buy this rather than a plain cover: a solid cap protects the objective but gives you no way to check the device without going somewhere dark.

It presses onto the ARGUS objective housing, so it seats all the way round — which matters here more than on a plain cover, because a cap that sits proud on one side lets daylight past exactly when you are relying on it not to.
