Overview
Three of the rings inside a BNVD-1431 MK2 housing sit down in blind bores with only a shallow feature for a tool to grab. There is no clean way to reach them with a screwdriver blade or a pair of pliers: the tool cams out, and when it cams out it goes somewhere you did not want it. A marked housing is annoying. A blade that skates into the image intensifier tube damages the most valuable part in the housing. This set covers all three of those rings, with the tube retaining ring tool, the objective inner locking ring tool, and the lock ring wrench. Each one engages its ring squarely and fully, so your effort goes into turning the ring instead of into holding the tool in place. If you build, service, or re-tube these housings, this is what you reach for before anything comes off.
Key Features
1) Covers the three rings in the BNVD-1431 MK2 that cannot be reached properly with a screwdriver blade or a pair of pliers;
2) Full, square engagement keeps the tool in the ring under load instead of camming out of a shallow feature;
3) Keeps a slipped tool away from the image intensifier tube, the most valuable part in the housing;
4) Three pieces: tube retaining ring tool, objective inner locking ring tool, and lock ring wrench;
5) Shaped for ARGUS BNVD-1431 MK2 housings rather than adapted from a general service kit;
What's in the Box
One image intensifier tube retaining ring tool
One objective inner locking ring tool
One lock ring wrench
How to Operate
1) Support the housing on a clean, padded bench with the optics covered before any ring comes out;
2) Engage the tool fully in the ring and keep it square to the bore. Confirm it is seated before you put any turning force through it;
3) Use the objective inner locking ring tool for the locking ring behind the objective assembly, and the lock ring wrench for the lock ring;
4) Use the tube retaining ring tool to release or seat the image intensifier tube retaining ring, turning slowly and keeping the housing supported so the tube never takes the load;
5) Look at the ring features before you close up. Anything that has started to round over is worth reporting now rather than discovering on the next teardown;
Compatibility
Fits ARGUS BNVD-1431 MK2 housings.
Why the ARGUS Part
A tool set is bought once for the bench rather than stocked as a spare, and the time to have it is before the first housing comes apart.
